Recently I received an email offer from J.Crew requesting that I become a "fan" of the retailer on Facebook. In exchange I would receive a special "reward". Happily, I obliged and noticed that many of my friends did as well. Unfortunately, nearly a month later, I have not received a reward.
When browsing the J.Crew Facebook page, it seems that many others are just as frustrated. They often post offers of free shipping on orders of $150+ higher. However, in today's economy, that just doesn't feel like enough to the average shopper. As we near the holidays, email offers of free shipping (on any purchase), discounts of 20% or higher have become the norm. As seen by the many posts on their page, their shoppers are growing increasingly frustrated and the backlash has started. Here's a few of the comments:
"You need to update your sale page! Half the items listed are sold out already!"
"Lauren - Dear JCrew- I adore you. I hate your $150 requirement for free shipping. I would spend so much more online shopping if you didn't have such a high minimum for free shopping."
"Andy - Honestly their e-mail ad/ marketing is getting really ridiculous. Same trick different day. Nothing that special. Plus IL/ Chicago resident still has to pay tax in addition to the shipping."
"Dana - By the way, JCrew, your fans noticed that you raised the prices before you offered this 20% off "sale" How lame is that??"
"Julie - Wow, no response from management? Dear J.Crew don't dabble in social media if you can't manage properly"
It will be interesting to see how the popular retailer responds to the growing voices of criticism from their loyal shoppers and manage their brand image. For now though, ignoring them isn't going to make them go away.

Seems like their site needs updating immediately or they will lose customers.
